Il giocatore che ha condotto la manifestazione per lungo tempo, Jakovenko, non riesce a superare il fanalino di coda Rublevsky e si deve accontentare del terzo posto alla pari con Vitiugov.

Beh, meglio così, oggi.
Sembravano già lanciati a contendersi il primo posto i due giocatori più quotati, Jakovenko e Karjakin, dopo la loro coppiola di vittorie col bianco al secondo e al quarto turno.
Ma il 5° è stato fatale per entrambi, rispettivamente battuti a sorpresa da Sokolov e Vitiugov.
Quest’ultimo, vincitore in 69 mosse, si è così svegliato dal torpore delle rapide patte delle prime partite ed ha raggiunto in classifica (con p. 3 su 5) i due russi, l’israeliano Sutovsky e l’altro russo Riazantsev.
Speriamo ora di avere un po’ più di lotta nei prossimi turni, perché troppe partite non stanno andando oltre le 16 – 20 mosse.
Sto invece vedendo con interesse il ritorno della difesa francese, giocata con buoni esiti sia da Riazantsev sia da Vitiugov.
